WhereOS facilitates faster innovation for data driven businesses. With our ecosystem as a service we can provide a holistic solution for companies who want to get more value out of their data, and turn data into valuable assets.
We help companies to navigate in the modern data driven business environment, addressing the three key trends:
With WhereOS data innovation platform and ecosystem you facilitate innovation with fast turn-around cycles and deliver working solutions in a matter of days and weeks instead of months and years. The speed of innovation is the key to be able to navigate in the fast paced business environment and rapidly changing business requirements.
From the technical point of view, with WhereOS, it’s extremely easy to built APIs and applications based on data: instead of months, new applications can be create in a matter of hours or days. This facilitates lean prototyping of how data can be used to create new value-adding services and products, helping both traditional and new businesses to speed up the development.
WhereOS is a new cloud based operating system for distributed, data driven applications, that’s built on top of Apache Spark. WhereOS makes it easier to build, host, distribute and share applications built using (big) data.
WhereOS lives in the cloud, which means no local data center installations are required – with WhereOS you just focus on working with your data and delivering insightful applications on top of it.
WhereOS provides all the required tools to create analytics apps out-of-the-box: ingesting data, cleaning & transforming the data, creating models out of the data, exposing the data and models through APIs, and developing visualizations and apps on top of the APIs.
It only takes 15 minutes to get started with WhereOS. In 15 minutes you have your first application installed and up and running, and ready to do further development.
WhereOS can be programmed through SQL programming language including built-in functions for ETL (extract, transform, load) operations, statistical analysis, geographical and spatial analysis, data visualization etc. Programs written in WhereOS applications are always executed as distributed processes, without developers explicitly design their applications for parallel processing and scalability.
WhereOS uses Apache Spark as the execution engine for the applications. WhereOS can be extended through two types of drivers: function and data asset drivers. Function drivers can introduce any new Hive/SparkSQL functions, to implement new features for the SQL language. The function drivers can be developed with Python, R or Java. Data asset drivers provide new ways of integrating data formats and/or data transmission protocols into the system and are written with Java.
Our mission is to speed up development of analytics solutions and data driven applications – make developers and data scientists superstars. WhereOS Store is a key element to this: It is a place where developers can share applications, data and drivers with each other. It’s a place where you can find software and components, so that you don’t need to start new projects from scratch, but you pick and choose the right elements that hopefully get 90% done already for your new project.
You might ask ‘What can I do with WhereOS?’ You can do a lot. Actually, I can’t imagine a thing that couldn’t be done 🙂 Take a look at some sample apps in apps.whereos.com. WhereOS provides to foundation for data intake, parallel computing, turning your data into models, exposing the models through APIs and developing apps on top of the APIs. What you actually decide to implement is up to you, only the sky is the limit. When you use WhereOS, you don’t need to think about data formats, protocols, parallelization, hosting, scheduling, dependencies, APIs – you just work on your data using WhereOS and all of the above mentioned are provided by the platform out-of-the box.
WhereOS is the operating system for future hyperconnected world and data operations. It enables business to gather data, turn it into valuable insights and deliver to right channels at the right time.
Businesses are getting more and more connected to online, cloud based information systems as a part of their business processes. Customers are accessing companies’ online services 24/7 through different interfaces: sensors, products and services. Customers are generating more and more information about their behavior – location, movement, social interactions, purchases and so forth – all tied to geographical locations. Businesses, on the other hand, are still running on legacy systems, where data is collected in different silos, and just-in-time delivery of data to the right interfaces becomes the key to success for future enterprises.
With WhereOS it’s easy to collect data from any file formats, from any APIs and through any protocols, transform it into value adding data objects and models, and delivering it to the right channels (customer products, management systems such as ERP and CRM, developer APIs, internal reports, customer reports, consumer applications and so forth) at the right time.
Our goal is to make developers, designers and data scientists superstars: help them do create and host applications that are based on data – whether the applications are artificial intelligence, machine learning, visualisation, analytics, geographical data or other applications. And all of this should happen in minutes, days or weeks, rather than in months or years.
WhereOS is about productivity and speed of development – with WhereOS, you can get started in 15 minutes to deploy your first data driven application in the cloud.
The story behind WhereOS is following: before I started developing WhereOS, I was working on many different big data projects, and saw the same pattern repeating over and over.
WhereOS cuts the time for the above process from weeks or months to hours or days: Installation takes 15 minutes, data integration and normalisation takes a few minutes to set up, there’s a plenty of existing applications and algorithms in the WhereOS Store you can re-use to create your app.
Read the articles in the Getting Started category – it takes only 15 minutes to register and start your first WhereOS installation and run the “Hello World” application on it.
